The creator of Homer Simpson was born on February 15th, 1956 in Portland, Oregon.
Matt went on through high school and on to Evergreen State College where he work as an editor a cartoonist and a writer of the Cooper Point Journal newspaper in college.
After college Matt began woking on a comic book that he called "Life in Hell". That book gained him attention and got him a job for the Los Angeles Reader
where he debuted his comics and cartoons in the newspaper.
From his fame from Life in Hell Matt Continued hits ideas when he got a notice from James L. Brooks about having his cartoons to be featured as an
animated short on the Tracy Ullman Show. Matt thought of the idea of a dysfunctional family and based the names off of his family. Homer was named after Matt's father
who was also named Homer.The Simpsons were and is still Matt Groening greatest cartoon creation.
Further on in his career Groening came up with a new idea of life in the year 3000. This led him to his second television show called "Futurama."
In which a guy from the year 2000 time travels to the year 3000 and lives his everyday life in this new generation. Groening has also worked on some movies such as
The Simpsons Movie and several other Futurama films. Today Matt still works on The Simpsons and resides with his family in Hollywood California.
