Natural cycles, Folklorists, P.Saintyves and Edward Burnett Tylor who was a cultural anthropologist,
saw this tale as a solar myth of natural cycles occurring. The little girls hood symbolized the sun,
which was swallowed by the terrible night (the wolf). She is cut out of the wolfs belly, which represented the dawn.
This tale frankly could be about the seasons changing. The season of spring, escaping the cold winter.
Ritual is another interpretation that was about puberty.The little girl leaves home and goes on this new path and transforms into an adult woman by coming out of the wolfs belly.
In 1966 Lil Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs, became a hit song. This song is the Wolfs point of view, explaining how he only wants love and not blood. There was also a short animated carton by Tex Avery that was called Red Hot Riding Hood. The storyline of his creation was an adult-oriented urban setting which made allusions of the tale being less or more sexual.
Little Red Riding Hood was one of the central characters in the 1987 Broadway musical Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. This musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales. One of the main characters are from Little Red Riding Hood This music has all their characters explore the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests from each other.

Once Upon a Time is a newer TV show series that has used this tale in their TV show, with Ruby Red.
Hoodwinked! is one of the movies done from this tale. There is also a Hoodwinked Too! that follows the first movie done.
Red Riding Hood is the newest movie that was based off this tale. The movie was based off the Red Hood and the girl with a witch. There is also going to be a new movie soon called Into the Woods
